Thomas E. Higgins, ASA, Chairman

Mr. Higgins has participated extensively in corporate valuation studies, expert testimony and settlement hearings with the Internal Revenue Service. Prior to the formation of Higgins, Marcus & Lovett, Inc., in 1980, he was Vice President and Regional Manager of a national valuation organization. His initial research training was with a New York Stock Exchange member firm and as a portfolio manager of an investment counseling firm.

Mr. Higgins earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California and his M.B.A. from Pepperdine University. He has served on the faculty of the Graduate School of Business of Pepperdine University, where he taught finance in the MBA program. He is a member of the American Arbitration Association, and has been appointed to the Association's Commercial Panel of Arbitrators. He has served as a public arbitrator in numerous matters for the National Association of Securities Dealers. Mr. Higgins is an Accredited Senior Appraiser of the American Society of Appraisers. His discipline is Business Valuation.

Mr. Higgins has been qualified as an expert in business valuation matters in superior courts throughout California and in federal courts, including the U.S. Tax Court. He is a frequent speaker at seminars and educational programs relating to the valuation of closely held businesses. Mr. Higgins provides ongoing business valuation counsel to a number of privately held businesses and serves on several corporate boards.

Mark C. Higgins, ASA, President

Mr. Higgins graduated cum laude with a B.S. in Finance and Business Economics from the University of Southern California, where he later received his M.B.A. with honors. He is an Accredited Senior Appraiser of the American Society of Appraisers (the "ASA") in the discipline of Business Valuation. He is a past chairman of the business valuation committee of the ASA's Los Angeles chapter. Mr. Higgins has been qualified in various superior courts in California and in U.S. Tax Court as an expert witness in valuation matters and has provided testimony in numerous civil cases and in settlement hearings with the Internal Revenue Service.

Prior to joining Higgins, Marcus & Lovett, Inc., Mr. Higgins, held a variety of management positions with Security Pacific Bank and Wells Fargo Bank. He has worked extensively with business owners and financial, legal, and accounting professionals, advising them on matters related to business valuation and treasury management. He has advised a wide range of businesses - from the Fortune 500 to the middle market - that represent a broad array of business sectors throughout the U.S. He has been a speaker at numerous regional and national conferences on subjects related to appraisal, financial management and banking.

Michael J. Farrand, ASA, Principal

Mr. Farrand graduated from Southern Methodist University with a B.A. in Economics and a B.B.A. with emphasis in Finance. He later received an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University. Mr. Farrand conducted research on the public equities market for professors at each institution. At Pepperdine, while serving as a graduate assistant, he also coordinated seminars on ethics and the public financial markets, instructed students in Finance, and conducted research and financial analysis for a medical consulting firm. He has been a guest lecturer on the subject of business valuation at Pepperdine University and the University of California at Los Angeles. He is an Accredited Senior Appraiser of the American Society of Appraisers, Business Valuation discipline.

Prior to joining Higgins, Marcus & Lovett, Inc., Mr. Farrand worked as a financial analyst and relationship manager with NationsBank. While at NationsBank, he specialized in lending to entrepreneurs, medical and legal professionals, and closely held businesses.

Charles J. Green, Senior Financial Analyst

Mr. Green graduated from the University of Washington with a B.A. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Operations Management.  In addition, Mr. Green holds certificates in Finance and Real Estate from the University of California Los Angeles extension school and is currently a candidate in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program.  While attending the University of Washington, Mr. Green participated in multiple internships where he assisted businesses in business planning, operations management, and marketing.   Upon graduation and prior to joining Higgins, Marcus & Lovett, Inc., Mr. Green was employed as a Business Analyst at The Boeing Company in Anaheim, California.  At Boeing, Mr. Green was responsible for financial analysis, financial reporting and forecasting on a major defense program.
